Women’s Basketball: Scots cold against St. Ben’s

Visiting St. Benedict held Macalester to 20% shooting on the night to gain a 65-40 win in St. Paul.  Morgan Dale and Emily Lueck scored 13 points apiece for the well-balanced Blazers (6-5 / 3-4 MIAC), who gave head coach Mike Durbin his 600th collegiate basketball coaching victory.

Veronika Jakubovie (Sr., Maple Grove. Minn.) had 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Scots (2-8 / 1-6 MIAC).  This was her second double-double in three games.  Erin Murray (So., Sparta, Wis.) produced four assists and three steals – both team highs.
St. Ben's led 35-16 at halftime by holding the hosts to a 5-for-29 shooting figure (17%).  The Blazers were 7-for-16 on the game from outside the three-point line (44%).

The Blazers, who led 323-16 in points in the paint and 19-8 in points off turnovers, jumped out to a 19-4 advantage after seven minutes of play.  CSB led by 19 points at the break.

Macalester takes on Augsburg this Saturday (Jan. 11) in Minneapolis.
