Back on the court first the first time since Dec. 9, Macalester lost an MIAC game Saturday at Hamline as the Pipers turned a halftime tie into a 54-49 victory. The Scots fall to 1-7 on the season and 0-5 in the MIAC, while the host-Pipers go to 2-7 overall, 1-5 in the MIAC.
Erin Murray (So., Sparta, Wis.) match a season-high with 18 points to lead Macalester. She also led the defensive effort with six steals.
Veronika Jakubovie (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.) registered a season-high 16 points and with 11 rebounds collects her first double-double of the year.
Emma Leyden (Sr., Berkeley, Calif. / Head-Royce) guided the offense with her game-high six assists.
Hamline was paced by Chloe Graves with 18 points.
Mac led 22-16 in points in the point, but HU led 20-15 in points off turnovers. The Scots led 34-29 with 10:50 left in the second half before Hamline took slight control, going up 39-34 with a 10-0 rally. Macalester got back to within two at 40-38 before the home squad pulled away.
The Scots are back in MIAC action Monday (Jan. 6) when they play at Gustavus Adolphus.
