Macalester leveled its record at .500 on the young season when it rolled over Crown by three identical scores of 25-14 at the Leonard Center. The Scots, who collected their second triumph over Crown this year, attacked at a .538 rate and now stand at an even 3-3 heading into this weekend's Macalester Invitational.
Laura Avena (Sr., Cesis, Latvia / Riga State Gymnasium No. 1) was all over the court for the Scots, finishing her evening with 15 kills and five serving aces (including three in a row). Avena boosts her career kills total at Mac to 938.
Brooke Hunter (Fy., Stillwater, Minn.) was also a force at the net, contributing 13 kills on an .800 percentage.
Kasey McMaster (So., Oak Ridge, Tenn.) guided the attack and wrapped up her night with 18 set assists and leading the defensive effort with seven digs was
Cora Trout (So., Columbia, Mo. / Rock Bridge).
In the second set, the Scots hit .760 with just one error.
Macalester heads into its own tournament at 3-3. The Scots play in the
Macalester Invitational Friday against Northland and UW-Superior and Saturday against UM-Morris and UW-Stout.
