Macalester opened its MIAC campaign Wednesday at defending NCAA Division III champion St. Thomas and made the short trip back with a 3-0 defeat to the Tommies.  Set scores were 25-14, 25-12 and 25-18 in favor of the Tommies, who attacked at a healthy .330 clip.

Mac's attack was led by Brook Hunter (Fy., Stillwater, Minn.) with eight kills and Laura Avena (Sr., Cesis, Latvia / Riga State Gymnasium No. 1) with seven to go along with a team-leading 10 digs.  Cora Trout added nine digs to the cause and Kasey McMaster set up the attack with 21 assists.

The Scots jump back into action next Tuesday (Sept. 24) when they host St. Mary's at 7 p.m.
