Laura Avena (Sr., Cesis, Latvia / Riga State Gymnasium No. 1) kills, as Macalester swept MIAC rival Carleton 25-20, 25-21 and 29-27 Friday night at the Leonard Center on
Dig Pink Night.
The Scots hit .212, compared to .104 for the Knights, and had a 6-1 advantage in serving aces. Mac also enjoyed a 9-5 lead in blocks.
Joining Avena as primary Macalester attackers were
Brooke Hunter (Fy., Stillwater, Minn.) with 8, and McMaster and
Caitlyn O'Neil (Fy., Carmichael, Calif. / Rio Americano) with seven apiece. Collecting four blocks each were Hunter and
Hannah Rehak (Jr., Chicago, Ill. / Walter Payton College Prep).
Carleton, which drops to 9-8 overall and 0-5 in the MIAC, was led by KarenHalls with 13 kills.
The Scots play next Wednesday (Oct. 9) at St. Olaf.
