Macalester won the first two sets Wednesday night at Hamline, but the Pipers forced a fifth and decisive set and went on to top the Scots 3-2. The Scots fall to 10-10 overall and 1-4 in MIAC play, while Hamline is 10-7 overall, 3-2 in the MIAC.

Laura Avena (Sr., Cesis, Latvia / Riga State Gymnasium No. 1) enjoyed another big night to lead Macalester, finishing with 30 kills, five blocks and 15 digs while hitting .333.
Kasey McMaster (So., Oak Ridge, Tenn.) dished out 34 assists from her setter position.
Brooke Hunter (Fy., Stillwater, Minn.) added 11 kills. Leaders in digs were
Cora Trout (So., Columbia, Mo. / Rock Bridge) with 18, Avena with 15 and
Bailey Rehnberg (Sr., York, Pa. / Suburban) with 14.
The fifth set was tied 11-11 before Hamline put it away by scoring the final four points.
The Scots host Carleton on Friday (Oct. 4) at 7 p.m.
