Macalester balanced its MIAC record at .500 when it swept visiting St. Catherine 3-0, improving to 13-11 on the season and 4-4 in the MIAC. The Scots hit .333 as a team and were led at the net by
Laura Avena (Sr., Cesis, Latvia / Riga State Gymnasium No. 1) and
Brooke Hunter (Fy., Stillwater, Minn.). Avena finished with 15 kills to go along with seven blocks and a couple serving aces, while Hunter produced 13 kills.
Set scores were 25-14, 25-17 and 25-19. Macalester hit .333 and spiked 46 kills, compared for .144 and 30 for St. Kate's.
Setting the attack was
Kasey McMaster (So., Oak Ridge, Tenn.) with 34 assists, and in the back row the Scots were led by
Cora Trout (So., Columbia, Mo. / Rock Bridge) with 13 digs and Avena with 10. McMaster and Avena each served two aces.
The Wildcats were led by Jana Christensen, Amber Zeiher and Maddy Mullins with six kills each.
The Scots are back in action Tuesday (Oct. 22) at Concordia-Moorhead.
