Men’s Soccer: Carleton knocks down Macalester 2-0

Box Score
Macalester looked to knock off MIAC title contender Carleton Wednesday in Northfield, but the Knights scored in each half to extend their unbeaten streak to eight games, beating the Scots 2-0.  Macalester is back at .500 on the season at 6-6-2 and is now 2-3-2 in the conference.  Carleton goes to 10-1-3 on the year, 4-1-1 in MIAC play.

"Credit Carleton. They are a very talented team," pointed out Macalester coach Gregg Olson.  "They were great in the first half and we played with very little urgency.

"We played a great second half and were scored on against the run of play. In the end, we have to find a way to play a full game with the passion like we are down a few goals mixed with the confidence that we are up a few.  Until that time, and especially against good opponents, this difficult end of the season is going to be a roller coaster."

Carleton attacked for a 20-6 advantage in shots and 7-4 margin in tries on net.  CC received four goalkeeper saves and Macalester picked up five from Zeke Vainer (Fy., Melrose, Mass.).  Robin Forslund (Sr., Madison, Wis. / Memorial) accounted for half of his team's four shots on goal.  The Knights struck first in the 19th minute on a header off a long cross and in the 71st minute made it 2-0 with the clincher.

The Scots are back in action Saturday (Oct. 19) at Gustavus.
