St. Olaf defeats Macalester

St. Olaf converted nine of its 21 three-point shots and beat Macalester 65-47 Saturday in Northfield.  Although the Oles turned the ball over 17 times, compared to only eight for the Scots, the home team led 33-20 at halftime and never looked back.

Taylor Pike (Jr., Ashland, Neb. / Ashland-Greenwood) knocked down four shots from outside the arc and tallied 16 points to pace Macalester.  Erin Murray (Fy., Sparta, Wis.) added nine points, while Kyanna Jones (Sr., Brooklyn Center, Minn. / Osseo) contributed four assists and three steals.    Kathryn Medinger (Jr., Sitka, Alaska) led the team with five rebounds.

St. Olaf was led by Kim Cerjan with 19 points, eight boards and three assists.  Mackenzie Wolter chipped in with 15 points and eight rebounds.

The Oles improve to 10-8 on the season, 8-7 in the MIAC.  Macalester is 4-14 overall and 3-12 in the MIAC.

Macalester is back in action next Wednesday (Jan. 30) when it plays host to Hamline at 7:30 p.m.
