What has surprised you about Macalester?
I was surprised how helpful and resourceful Mac is. I've been to many different offices and parts of campus, and every staff member has made it clear that they want me to succeed throughout my four years here and beyond.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester helped shape you as an individual?
My experiences as a student-athlete have helped me develop skills that I value with my academics, my jobs, and my relationships. I've seen my commitment and leadership skills carry over into my jobs, as well as my focus and dedication assist me with my academics. The ways my teammates and I communicate, support, and encourage one another has shaped my relationships both within and outside of the team too.
How has your experience as a student-athlete at Macalester prepared you for life after graduation?
Regardless of what I decide to do after graduation (because I still have no idea!), I know that these skills I've learned to become a better student-athlete: time management, communication, dedication, and mental toughness, will be invaluable attributes in any career. Not to mention, if I can make it across campus to practice during the Polar Vortex, I'm confident I can do just about anything! Bring it on, alumni life!
