Macalester claimed the opening set 25-23 and played well throughout, but Carleton came back to win a close 3-1 MIAC battle at the Leonard Center. Carleton's close wins in the next three sets came by 25-22, 25-19 and 25-21 scores. The Knights move to 14-4 on the season and are in fourth place at 4-2 in the conference. The Scots drop to 7-13 overall, 0-4 in the MIAC.

Laura Avena (Jr., Cesis, Latvia / Riga Gimnasium #1) played another big match to lead the Macalester bid, finishing with 19 kills and 10 digs, while the defensive effort was led by libero
Glasha Marcon (Sr., Richmond, Calif. / Albany) with 17 digs.
Hannah Rehak (So., Chicago, Ill. / Walter Payton College Prep) hit .310 and provided 10 kills and
Kasey McMaster (Fy., Oak Ridge, Tenn.) handed out 25 assists.
Anna Munson (So., La Crosse, Wis. / Central) added 13 assists. Julia Garzke (Sr., New Glarus, Wis.) was in on three blocks.
The Knights, winners of eight of their past nine matches, were led by setter Alicia Flatt with 53 assists and 12 digs. Jessa Yousa hammered 20 kills and Sarah Nielsen added 17.
Mac plays its fourth straight home match (and next-to-last of the season) Wednesday (Oct. 3) against St. Benedict at 7 p.m.
