Macalester hosted MIAC powerhouse St. Thomas, the No. 7-ranked team in the NCAA Division III, and were swept by the Tommies 25-16, 25-10 and 25-13 as UST attacked at a .427 clip.

St. Thomas, which has won or shared the last five MIAC titles, is now 17-1 on the season and 4-0 in the conference.  Macalester is 7-12 overall, 0-3 in MIAC play.

Laura Avena (Jr., Cesis, Latvia / Riga Gimnasium #1) accounted for half of her team's kills to lead the way at the net for the Scots, finishing with nine kills and a block solo.  Anna Munson (So., La Crosse, Wis. / Central) distributed nine assists and Kasey McMaster (Fy., Oak Ridge, Tenn.) added seven.

Anna Trier (Sr., Sun Prairie, Wis.) served a pair of aces and Glasha Marcon (Sr., Richmond, Calif. / Albany) contributed six digs.

The Tommies were led by Kelly Foley with 12 kills and McKenna Reagan with four serving aces.  UST served 14 aces on the match.

Macalester jumps right back into MIAC action when they host Carleton tomorrow at 3 p.m.
