Scots serve 18 aces to sweep North Central

Box Score
Macalester won all three sets by identical 25-9 scores to win a 3-0 non-conference match in just under an hour over North Central University at the Leonard Center.  The Scots attacked at a .321 clip and served 18 aces to improve to 7-11 on the season and surpassing last year's win total.

The Scots used 20 players in the match and were led by setters Anna Munson (So., La Crosse, Wis. / Central) with 16 assists and Kasey McMaster (Fy., Oak Ridge, Tenn.) with 14.  Glasha Marcon (Sr., Richmond, Calif. / Albany) and Laura Avena (Jr., Cesis, Latvia / Riga Gimnasium #1) led the way in the back row with eight digs each.

Avena, who is ranked 33rd in the NCAA Division III in kills per set, pounded 10 kills and served six of her team's 18 aces.  Katherine Meier (Fy., Madison, Conn. / Daniel Hand) added six kills and Kate Hehre (So., Minnapolis, Minn. / Southwest) served three aces.  Adding five kills each were Anna Trier (Sr., Sun Prairie, Wis.) and Hannah Rehak (So., Chicago, Ill. / Walter Payton College Prep).

”Although we had a slow start, the team quickly picked up the intensity and was able to maintain focus and accomplish what we needed to get the win,” said coach Annie Doman.

The Rams (1-13 overall) were led by Anna Bird and Sarah Trickey with eight digs each.

Macalester returns to MIAC competition Friday (Sept. 28) when it plays No. 7-ranked St. Thomas at the Leonard Center at 7 p.m.  The team plays the following day at 3 p.m. at home against Carleton.
