Macalester jumped out to a 10-0 lead over Lewis & Clark, but the Pioneers tallied the game's next 41 points to hand the Scots their first setback of the season, a 41-17 defeat in Portland, Ore.  L&C moves to 3-0 on the year and Mac falls to 3-1.

Clark Bledsoe (Sr., Jacksonville, Fla. / Episcopal) was successful on 20 of 30 passing attempts.  C.J. Smith (Jr., Ashland, Wis.) hauled in seven receptions for 66 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown.  Macalester's other TD came on a T. Joe Loiselle (Sr., Chippewa Falls, Wis.) 1-yard run to open the scoring.  Auburn Jimenez (Jr., East Los Angeles, Calif. / St. John Bosco) kicked a 24-yard field goal to put Mac on top 10-0 less than two minutes into the second quarter.

Linebacker Levi Brown (Jr., Winona, Minn. / Rushford-Peterson) registered 12 tackles, including 2 ½ for loss of yardage, to lead the Macalester defense.

Keith Welch threw for a pair of touchdowns, going  24-for-35 for 312 yards and no interceptions, and ran for two touchdowns to spark the Lewis & Clark (Ore.) attack.

Macalester was denied its first 4-0 start since 1898.
