Martin Luther comes back to defeat Scots

The evening got off to a good start for the Scots, who won the opening set 25-21, but Martin Luther stormed back in the next three sets to win 25-18, 25-11 and 25-16 and claim a 3-1 decision over Macalester Tuesday at the Leonard Center.

Macalester drops to 6-10 on the year; the Knights climb to 6-7.

The Scots combined for 30 assists in the four sets, with Anna Munson (So., La Crosse, Wis. / Central) collecting 16 and Kasey McMaster (Fy., Oak Ridge, Tenn.) handing out 12.  Glasha Marcon (Sr., Richmond, Calif. / Albany) led the defense with 12 digs.

Mac hitting leaders on the night were Arianna Hesterberg (Fy., Kenmore, Wash. / Inglemoor) with seven kills.  Mattie Hill (Sr., Liberty, Mo.) and Hannah Rehak (So., Chicago, Ill. / Walter Payton Prep) each added six kills.

Martin Luther hit .301 on the night and was led by setter Miranda Maasz, who dished out 41 assists.  Rebecca Engelbrecht and Rachel Hein spiked 14 kills apiece and Hein had five blocks.

Macalester travels to St. Peter Saturday (Sept. 22) to play an MIAC match with Gustavus Adolphus at 3 p.m.
