Box Score Macalester vs. Loras statistics

Macalester played host to powerhouse Loras (Ia.), the fourth-ranked team in the NCAA Division III according to the National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) and gave the Duhawks a good match before going down to defeat 1-0.

The Duhawks stay unbeaten at 7-0-1, while the Scots drop to 0-5-1.

"We've built our non-conference schedule to prepare for the heart of our season, MIAC play,” said Macalester head coach Gregg Olson.  “Yes, we lost 1-0; however, competing fiercely with the No. 4team in the nation has made us stronger.  Our players have bought in, and are ready for conference play."

Dan Figura from Loras netted the lone goal of the match on a very long free kick in the 20th minute.

Loras out-shot Macalester 16-4, including 5-1 in shots on goal.  Mac keeper Jesse Yourish turned back four tries on net.  The Duhawks enjoyed an 8-3 corner kick advantage.

Macalester begins its MIAC campaign Wednesday (Sept. 19) at Augsburg at 7:30 p.m.
