Box Score Macalester vs. St. Scholastica statistics
One day after dropping a close game to UW-Superior in the season-opener at the Advantage Emblem Cup in Duluth, the Scots suffered a 1-0 heartbreaking defeat to host-St. Scholastica as the Saints converted a penalty kick with under 12 minutes remaining in regulation to break the scoreless deadlock.
Prior to the PK, the match was closely contested and defensive-minded as there were only 14 shots and six shots on goal. CSS received five saves to pull out the win. Five different Scots had scoring chances on net, only to be turned away by the two-time defending Upper Midwest Conference champions. The penalty kick was just St. Scholastica's second shot on goal.

Ben Dugoni (Jr., Portland, Ore. / Oregon Episcopal) and
Robin Forslund (Jr., Madison, Wis. / Memorial) were named to the all-tournament squad.
The Scots head to Decorah, Ia., next weekend (Sept. 8-9) for a pair of matches against solid competition, taking on Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday and Luther (Ia.) Sunday. Macalester then plays its home opener Sept. 14 against Wisconsin-Platteville.
