Macalester played a competitive game with No. 5-ranked St. Thomas before dropping a 58-47 decision in the MIAC opener for both teams Wednesday at UST.

Kynanna Jones (Sr., Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Osseo) made seven of nine shots and led the way for the Scots with 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals.  Through the season's first four games, Jones is averaging 14.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.8 steals per game.

Taylor Pike (Jr., Ashland, Neb. / Ashland-Greenwood) tallied nine points and Erin Murray (Fy., Sparta, Wis.) came off the bench to score eight.

St. Thomas shot 51% and was led by Anna Smith with 11 points and Kelly Brandenburg with 10 to go along with eight boards.

The Scots return to action Saturday (Dec. 1) when they host St. Olaf at the Leonard Center at 1 p.m.
