Box Score
St. Mary's struck quickly, netting goals at 3:56 and 28:55, and went on to topple the Scots 2-0 Tuesday night at Macalester Stadium in Mac's second-to-last match of the season.
Coming off a four-goal second half explosion at Wartburg (Ia.) in a non-conference victory last weekend, Macalester's scoring dried up despite and 18-7 shot advantage and 4-3 lead in tries on net. The Scots drop to 4-12-1 on the season and 2-7 in MIAC competition. SMU picks up its first win over the Scots since 1986 and jumps to 7-9-1 overall, 4-5 in the conference.
SMU's Matt Graber scored both Cardinal goals to lead the way.
Macalester earned a 7-3 corner kick margin, but was denied four times by the SMU keeper.
The Scots close out the season Saturday (Oct. 27) when they host MIAC co-leader Gustavus at 1 p.m. on Senior Day.
