Glasha Marcon (Sr., Richmond, Calif. / Albany) collected 12 digs to reach the 1,000 career milestone, but Macalester dropped a 25-15, 25-23, 25-15 MIAC match to Augsburg in Minneapolis. The team's libero, Marcon now how 1,010 digs in her four seasons at Macalester.
Macalester's best set was the second when the Scots had a 51% side-out mark and were tied at 23-23 before the Auggies won the final two points, the final on an ace serve to go up 2-0.
Marcon had 12 of her team's 30 digs.
All-MIAC outside hitter
Laura Avena (Jr., Cesis, Latvia / Riga Gimnasium #1) hammered down 10 kills to go along with three serving aces and six digs. She hit .450- for the match. Avena ranks fourth in the conference in kills (3.6 per set) and seventh in aces (0.41).
Arianna Hesterberg (Fy., Kenmore, Wash. / Inglemoor) provided the Scots with seven kills to go along with a couple blocks.
Splitting the setting duties were
Anna Munson (So., La Crosse, Wis. / Central) with 13 assists and
Kasey McMaster (Fy., Oak Ridge, Tenn.) with 10.
Augsburg, now 12-10 on the year and 3-4 in the MIAC, was led by Nikolene Miller with 12 kills on a .579 attack percentage, and Emily McCourt with36 assists.
The Scots, 7-16 overall and 0-7 in league play, return to the court next Friday (Oct. 19) for a Senior Night and Dig Pink Night match with Hamline at 7 p.m.
