St. Thomas kept its first-place hold in the MIAC standings by scoring the tying and go-ahead goals in the final 15 mintues to gain a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the Scots at UST's South Field Wednesday afternoon. The Tommies remain unbeaten in the conference at 6-0 and go to 10-2-2 overall, while the Scots drop to 2-4 in the MIAC and 3-9-1 overall. The Scots drop their sixth one-goal decision.
Ben Dugoni (Jr., Portland, Ore. / Oregon Episcopal) scored off a corner kick from
Robin Forslund (Jr., Madison, Wis. / Memorial) to give the visiting Scots a 1-0 advantage in the 52nd minute following a scoreless first half. Forslund, an All-MIAC midfielder, picks up his team-leading fourth assist.
The Tommies held Mac off the scoreboard the rest of the way, and tallied the equalizer in the 77th minute . Ninety seconds later, UST's Nick Rapisarda scored his 10th goal of the year for the game-winner.
Each team managed just three shots on net, with St. Thomas owning a 12-6 overall lead in shots.
Macalester travels to Northfield Saturday afternoon (Oct. 13) for an MIAC match at St. Olaf.
