Macalester bounced back from a defeat in its season-opener to topple Luther (Ia.) 1-0 Sunday afternoon on the home field.
Taylor Rasmussen (Jr., Eagan, Minn. / Eastview), last year's MIAC goal scoring champ, netted his first tally of the season in the 15th minute, converting a pass from
Robin Forslund (So., Madison, Wis. / Memorial), and the defense and goalkeeper
Matt Weyer (Jr., Cedarburg, Wis.) did the rest of the work as the Scots even their record at 1-1.
Weyer turned away four Luther shots on net for his 11th career shutout.
Jesse Geary (Sr., Duluth, Minn. / Marshall) had two of Macalester's three shots on goal on the day.
Luther out-shot the home team 12-5 and led 12-3 in corner kick tries.
The Scots, avenge a 3-1 loss to the Norse last season, are off until Friday (Sept. 9) when they play host to Wartburg (Ia.) at 7:30 p.m.
