Macalester vs. Gustavus Adolphus statistics
Gustavus Adolphus moved into a six-way tie for first place in the conference standings by sweeping Macalester 25-16, 25-20 and 25-22 at the Leonard Center.
The Scots fall to 5-13 on the year and 0-4 in MIAC matches. Gustavus is now 13-5 overall, 3-1 in the league.
Laura Avena (So., Cesis, Latvia / Riga Gimnasium #1) provided nine kills to lead the Macalester attack. She also served four aces and had four digs. Collecting seven digs apiece were
Casey Colodny (Jr., Windermere, Fla. / Montverde Academy) and
Bailey Rehnberg (So., York, Pa. / Suburban), while
Danielle Dweck (Sr., Sea Cliff, N.Y. / North Shore) finished with 18 assists.
Each team served eight aces on the night.
The second and third sets were close. Gustavus led set two 22-20 before closing with three straight points. In the third set, three straight Macalester points reduced a Gustavus lead to 24-22 before the visitors closed it out.
Gustavus was led by Paige Breneman with 16 digs and Olivia Warren with 15. Angela Ahrendt led the attack with 11 kills.
Mac's match tomorrow at North Central (Minn.) has been postponed and will be made up at a date to be determined later. The Scots will be in action again next Wednesday (Oct. 5) at Carleton.
