Macalester vs. St. Benedict statistics
The Scots made St. Benedict work in the first set before the host Blazers turned a 21-19 lead into a 25-20 win, and CSB controlled the next two sets to gain a 3-0 MIAC sweep over Macalester in St. Joseph.
St. Ben's attacked at a .297 rate and is now 10-6 on the season. CSB is one of five teams on top of the MIAC standings at 3-1. Macalester is 5-12 overall, 0-3 in MIAC play.
Leading the back row play for the Scots were
Glasha Marcon (Jr., Richmond, Calif. / Albany) with 12 digs and setter
Danielle Dweck (Sr., Sea Cliff,N.Y. / North Shore) with 11 to go along with 21 assists.
Laura Avena (So., Cesis, Latvia / Riga Gimnasium #1), who ranks second in the MIAC in kills per set, led play at the net with 12 kills.
Hannah Rehak (Fy., Chicago, Ill. / Walter Payton College Prep) was in on three blocks.
St. Benedict was led by Chelsea Rachel with 18 digs and Taya Kockelman with 29 assists.
Seeking their first conference triumph of the season, the Scots return to action Friday (Sept. 30) against Gustavus at the Leonard Center at 7 p.m. The Gusties will be looking to make it a six-way tie for the league lead.
