Macalester vs. Minnesota-Morris statistics
Minnesota-Morris came out on top in closely-played first and third sets and swept Macalester 3-0 at the Leonard Center. The Cougars hit .255 on the night to win 26-24, 25-17 and 30-28.
Macalester drops to 5-10 on the season, while UMM advances to 8-3.
The first set was played with a one- or two-point lead for one team or another almost all the way through. Macalester tallied two straight points after being down 24-22, but the Cougars took control of the match with the final two points.
The third set was even closer than the first and featured 17 ties and nine lead changes. On their fourth match point, the Cougars finally put things away at 30-28.
Danielle Dweck (Sr., Sea Cliff, N.Y. / North Shore) contributed 30 assists for the Scots, with 14 going to
Laura Avena (So., Cesis, Latvia / Riga Gimnasium #1) and 10 to
Taylor Tinkham (Sr., St. Louis Park, Minn.). Avena also had seven digs. The team leader in digs was
Bailey Rehnberg (So., York, Pa. / Suburban) with eight.
Emily Auch led Morris with 14 kills.
Macalester gets back to MIAC action tomorrow (Sept. 21) at home against Augsburg at 7 p.m.
