Macalester vs. Hamline statistics
Majra Mucic (Sr., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park – Minn.) contributed 22 points and 12 rebounds, and teammate
Jessica Rene (Jr., Eau Claire, Wis. / Memorial) added 20 points as Macalester never trailed, beating Hamline 76-70 at the Leonard Center. This was Senior Day and
Pink Zone Day.
Mucic, who also collected six steals, was 10-for-17 from the floor and turned in her 12th double-double of the season. Rene was 4-for-6 from long range and is a red-hot 11-for-15 (73%) from outside the arc over Mac's current three-game winning streak. The Scots have won eight of their last 11.
Audrey Mills (Jr., Lake Forest, Minn.) chipped in with 10 points,
Holly Schiedermayer (Jr., Waupaca, Wis.) scored nine and
Kyanna Jones (So., Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Osseo) added eight.
These teams came into the contest tied for sixth place in the MIAC at 9-10, and it was the Scots taking sole possession of sixth as they move closer to making the six-team conference playoffs. Macalester can clinch a post-season berth and No. 5 seed by winning their two games next week.
Macalester goes up to 10-13 overall and 10-10 in the MIAC. Hamline falls to 10-13 overall, 9-11 in the MIAC.
The Scots out-scored the Pipers 20-7 in points off turnovers.
MIAC scoring leader Mary Wilkowski finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead Hamline, while Stephanie Robinson added 13 points.
Macalester led 22-10 at the 8:15 mark of the first half and was on top 34-31 at halftime. The Scots drained 5-of-6 from behind the three-point arc in the second half to hold the lead the rest of the way.
The Scots are away from action until next Wednesday (Feb. 16) at Carleton.
