Macalester vs. Bethel statistics
Macalester converted two of its 10 corner kicks and also made a penalty kick, and went on to beat Bethel 5-0 in Arden Hills. Macalester improves to 5-5 overall and 3-2 in the MIAC, while the Royals drop to 7-2-2 overall, 2-2 in the MIAC.
Robin Forslund (So., Madison, Wis. / Memorial) put in the game's first goal just :35 into the contest after
Taylor Rasmussen (Jr., Eagan, Minn. / Eastview) shot one off the post, and Forslund made it 2-0 on a penalty kick in the ninth minute.
Rasmussen netted Mac's next two goals, the first off a
Jesse Geary (Sr., Duluth, Minn. / Marshall) corner kick early in the second half, and the next in the 59th minute off a feed from
David Cameron (So., Portland, Ore. / Cleveland). Rasmussen now has a team-leading nine goals on the season and with 27 career markers, is now tied for seventh on the school-all-time goal-scoring chart. He joins Nick Adams '97 and current Macalester assistant coach Carson Gorecki '09.
Macalester's fifth and final goal was put in by
Ben Dugoni (So., Portland, Ore. / Oregon Episcopal), scoring on an assist from
Carlos Alban (Jr., St. Nom la Breteche, France / American School of Paris).
Macalester led 27-11 in shots and 13-4 in shots on net, getting four saves from
Matt Weyer (Sr., Cedarburg, Wis.). The Scots are now 16-1 vs. Bethel since 1995.
The Scots, who have out-scored their last two opponents 14-0, make the trip to Moorhead on Saturday (Oct. 8) to take on Concordia.
