Macalester vs. Hamline statistics
Hamline pulled out a 25-22 win in the opening set and won a narrow 25-23 third set decision to sweep visiting Macalester 3-0 in a match between a pair of teams seeking their first MIAC victory of the season.
Danielle Dweck (Sr., Sea Cliff, N.Y. / North Shore) distributed 24 assists and led the team with 15 digs, and
Taylor Tinkham (Sr., St. Louis Park, Minn.) knocked down 11 kills. Tinkham was also in on four blocks.
Glasha Marcon (Jr., Richmond, Calif. / Albany) had 13 digs and
Laura Avena (So., Cesis, Latvia / Riga Gimnasium #1) contributed 12 digs and seven kills.
Julia Gartzke (Jr., New Glarus, Wis.) served three aces.
Macalester led 16-10 in the first set and 17-13 in the third before falling.
Hamline was led by Stephanie Kaup and Paige Walters with 10 kills apiece. Sammie Miller had 25 assists and eight digs.
The Pipers go to 9-16 on the season and 1-7 in the MIAC, while Macalester is now 5-21 overall, 0-8 in the MIAC.
Macalester is at home Saturday (Oct. 22) for a 3 p.m. conference match with Bethel.
