Macalester vs. Hamline statistics
Hamline broke a tie with :44 to play and went on to win a closely-played game over the visiting Scots 61-56 Saturday afternoon.
The Scots went up 16-5 in the early going and held the advantage until the Pipers gained a 50-49 lead with 5:31 left in the second half. Macalester led 30-23 at halftime, but could not overcome a 56% Hamline shooting performance in the final period.
Jessica Rene (Jr., Eau Claire, Wis. / Memorial) dropped in 4-of-7 from behind the three-point stripe and finished with 18 points and three steals to pace Macalester.
Majra Mucic (Sr., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park – Minn.) also had a big game, contributing 15 points, 15 rebounds and three steals.
Shannon Rene (Jr., Eau Claire, Wis. / Memorial) dished out six assists.
Mary Wilkowski provided Hamline with 17 points and four steals, while Nikki Klinck had 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
Macalester led 17-0 in second chance points.
The Scots, now 2-9 overall and 2-6 in the MIAC, return to action Wednesday (Jan. 12) with an MIAC game at Augsburg.
