Macalester vs. Augsburg statistics
Augsburg held the visiting Scots to a 27% shooting figure to gain a 68-59 victory in Minneapolis. The Auggies improve to 3-9 overall and 2-7 in the MIAC, while Macalester drops to 2-10 on the season, 2-7 in MIAC play.
Majra Mucic (Sr., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park – Minn.) scored 21 points to pace the Scots. The MIAC's leading rebounder also collected eight boards.
Jessica Rene (Jr., Eau Claire, Wis. / Memorial),
Holly Schiedermayer (Jr., Waupaca, Wis.) and
Kyanna Jones (So., Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Osseo) chipped in with eight points apiece.
Serenae Levine had 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists to lead the way for the Auggies. Three teammates joined Levine in double figures in scoring, including Brittany Dyshaw with 10 points and 13 boards.
The opening period was evenly played and it was the Auggies taking a 28-27 lead into the intermission. Augsburg used a key 10-0 run over a 3:17 span to take its largest lead of the night 51-40 with just over eight minutes to play.
The Auggies, who out-scored Mac 32-18 in points in the paint, avenge an 82-46 defeat to the Scots in December.
Macalester plays host to St. Olaf Saturday (Jan. 15) to St. Olaf at 1 p.m.
