Macalester vs. UW-Superior statistics

Macalester's first home match of the season was a winning one as the Scots toppled Wisconsin-Superior in four sets to improve to 5-1 on the season. Set scores were 25-22, 25-19, 18-25 and 25-16.

Laura Avena (Fy., Cesis, Latvia / Riga Gimnasium #1) and Majra Mucic (Sr,. Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park (Minn.)) combined for 30 kills and Steffanie Fisher (So., Lindenhurst, Ill. / Lakes Community) contributed 34 assists to lead the way for Macalester. Avena posted a .364 hitting percentage with 16 kills and Mucic hit .522 with 14 kills.

In the first set, UW-Superior went out on top 7-2 before a 17-7 run gave the home team a 19-14 lead. The Yellowjackets made things interesting, getting to within 22-21, but the Scots closed things out to take command of the match. The Scots went up 16-9 and 21-11 in set two.

UW-Superior hit .312 in the third set and won 25-18 before Mac clinched victory by hitting .316 and winning the fourth set by a comfortable nine points.

Kiera Coulter (Sr., Davis, Calif.) led the defense with 18 of her team's 43 digs. Macalester served 14 aces, including six by Fisher. Taylor Tinkham (Jr., St. Louis Park, Minn.) added seven kills and four blocks to the Macalester attack.

The Scots play four matches this Friday and Saturday (Sept. 10-11) at the Augsburg Invitational in Minneapolis. They'll take on Central (Ia.), St. Thomas, Northwestern-Roseville and one other opponent. Augsburg College parking advisory
