Macalester vs. St. Catherine statistics
Macalester held off a second-half comeback by visiting St. Catherine to make Senior Day a successful one, as the Scots turned a rebounding advantage into a 67-56 triumph over the Wildcats.
Danielle Johnson (Sr., DeForest, Wis. / Madison Edgewood) scored 18 points and distributed five assists to lead the way for the Scots, who close out the regular-season at 16-9 overall and an all-time best 16-6 in the MIAC.
The Scots head to the six-team MIAC playoffs as the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 St. Thomas on Monday (Feb. 22) at 7:30 at the Leonard Center. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for students. The other Monday quarter-final contest will be Concordia playing host to St. Kate's. Earning first-round byes are MIAC co-champs Gustavus and St. Benedict.

Eartha Bell (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Breck School) didn't score any points from her guard spot, but helped out with 10 rebounds, five steals and three assists.
Trina PaStarr (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) contributed a double-double, finishing with 15 points and 10 boards to go along with a couple blocked shots.
Ann Baltzer (Sr., Bismarck, N.D.) clinched the MIAC scoring crown with 13 points, while
Jessica Rene (So., Eau Claire, Wis. / Memorial) added 12 points.
Mac survived a 3-for-16 three-point shooting day, thanks to an equally-bad 2-for-15 long-range performance for the Wildcats, and a 17-8 edge on the offensive boards for the Scots.
The Wildcats were led by Molly Peterson with 16 points.
Macalester held SCU to a 27% first half shooting performance and led 36-20 at the halftime break. The Wildcats, however, out-scored their hosts 13-2 to start the second half to pull to within five points at 38-33 at the 15:38 mark. The Scots opened things up again with an 8-0 run to go up by 14 points at 52-38 with 10:13 to play.
St. Kate's battled back one more time and was within four points at 58-54 with 2:19 to play before Mac pulled away one final time.
