Macalester vs. St. Olaf statistics
One game after netting 27 points in a Mac victory over Concordia, two-time All-MIAC forward
Trina PaStarr (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) tallied 25 points on an 11-for-14 shooting effort to lead the Scots past St. Olaf 64-53 in Northfield.
The Scots boost their record to 14-9 overall and 14-6 in the MIAC with their third straight win.
Danielle Johnson (Sr., DeForest, Wis. / Madison Edgewood) handed out seven assists and scored 12 points, while
Ann Baltzer (Sr., Bismarck, N.D.) also had 12 points. Macalester led 38-29 at halftime and never trailed in the second period.
The first half was closely contested. Shortly after the game's eighth tie, St. Olaf went up 22-21 with 5:55 to play in the first half. That is when the Scots began a string of 11 straight points to take control 32-22 with 2:41 left before intermission. Macalester never managed to shake the upset-minded Oles, who kept within striking distance until a late shooting slump.
St. Olaf registered its 53rd point on a three-pointer with 5:49 on the clock to get to within four points at 57-53, but did not score the rest of the way.
The Oles, now 4-19 overall and 4-16 in the MIAC, were led by Erin Haglund with 15 points and Sam Zopfi with 12.
The Scots return to Northfield on Wednesday (Feb. 17) to take on Carleton. The Scots are tied with St. Thomas for fourth place in the MIAC standings at 14-6, one game behind third-place Concordia (15-5).
