Scots go for sixth win Saturday at Martin Luther

Having already clinched the school's first winning season since 1986, the Scots look to close the 2010 campaign out with a 6-3 record when they travel to New Ulm to take on Martin Luther College.

Last weekend, in their eighth game of the season, the Scots reached the 40-point mark for the third time in five games, beating Minnesota-Morris 48-27 at the Metrodome and establishing a school record for points in a season with 270 (the old record of 263 was established by the 1969 Scots).

Macalester is averaging 33.8 points a game and 423.5 yards per game (37th in the nation). T. Joe Loiselle (Jr., Chippewa Falls, Wis.) has run for 801 yards and nine touchdowns in eight games, while Clark Bledsoe (So., Jacksonville, Fla. / Episcopal) is 45th nationally in passing effeiciency. Jon Elliott (Sr., El Paso, Tex. / Andress) has pulled in 42 receptions for 572 yards and seven touchdowns.

Martin Luther has won three straight and is also 5-3 on the season and at 4-2 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), which is tied for second place behind unbeaten Greenville (Ill.). Like the Scots, the Knights have a strong running attack. MLC ranks 16th in the NCAA Division III in rushing yards per game (249.0), while Macalester ranks 24th (217.3).
