Macalester vs. St. Thomas statistics

St. Thomas, the nation's 14th-ranked team, extended its winning streak to 13 matches and stayed in a three-way tie for the top spot in the MIAC standings by sweeping Macalester 3-0 at the Leonard Center. The Scots played well in defeat and nearly pulled off a first set upset before falling 25-21. Set scores were 25-21, 25-16 and 25-17.

UST moves to 18-3 overall and 5-1 in MIAC play, while Macalester is now 10-13 on the year, 1-5 in the conference.

Laura Avena (Fy., Cesis, Latvia / Riga Gimnasium #1) produced 10 kills while hitting at a .364 rate to lead the Scots. Danielle Dweck (Jr., Sea Cliff, N.Y. / North Shore) had assists on 23 kills for the Scots and Majra Mucic (Sr., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park – Minn.) hammered down eight kills.

The Tommies were led by Emily Foster with 35 assists.

The Scots return to the court Wednesday (Oct. 13) for a conference road match at Bethel.
