Macalester vs. North Central statistics
Macalester came back from a two-point setback in the opening set to topple North Central (Minn.) 3-1 on
Dig Pink Night at the Leonard Center. Set scores were 23-25, 25-17, 25-17 and 25-11 as the Scots boost their record on the season to 11-14.
The Scots hit .342 and served 10 aces, half of them provided by
Laura Avena (Fy., Cesis, Latvia / Riga Gimnasium #1), who also contributed 16 kills and seven digs in a strong all-around effort.
Danielle Dweck (Jr., Sea Cliff, N.Y. / North Shore) handed out a season-best 40 set assists and also served a couple aces.
Joining Avena as the main force at the net was
Majra Mucic (Sr., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park – Minn.), who hit at a .559 mark and finished with 21 kills.
Taylor Tinkham (Jr., St. Louis Park, Minn.) added eight kills. Leading the way in the back row was
Kiera Coulter (Sr., Davis, Calif.) with 10 digs.
North Central was led by Mariah Simonson with 15 kills.
Macalester returns to MIAC play with a pair of matches this weekend. The Scots play Friday night (Oct. 22) at St. Mary's and on Saturday (Oct. 23) play host to Hamline at 3 p.m.
