Macalester vs. Carleton statistics
The Scots were handed their first MIAC setback of the year when Carleton defeated Macalester 3-0 in Northfield. Macalester is now 5-5-1 overall and 2-1 in MIAC competition, while Carleton improves to 6-3-1 on the season and 4-1 in the conference.
Carleton put the ball in the back of the net twice within a five-minute stretch midway through the first half to go up 2-0 at the intermission. The Knights put the icing on the cake in the 87th minute with their third goal.
The Knights out-shot the Scots 13-7 in overall attempts and 6-5 in shots on goal. Each team tried five corner kicks. Each team has several scoring chances as the contest was closer than the final score.
Jake Rocke (Sr., Lincoln, Neb. / East) led Macalester's attack with three shots, including two on goal.
Eric Tettegah (Jr., Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Breck),
Carson Gorecki (Sr., Mahtomedi, Minn.) and
Reid Usedom (So., Asheville, N.C. / A.C. Reynolds) were each denied once by the Carleton keeper.
Tim Willis scored CC's first goal and assisted on the second and third.
The Scots, halfway through a six-match string of road games, return to action Friday (Oct. 2) at Bethel. The Royals are also 2-1-1 in the MIAC.
