Macalester vs. Hamline statistics
Ann Baltzer (Sr., Bismarck, N.D.) pumped in 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Macalester to its second straight conference win, a 71-59 victory at Hamline. The Scots shot 49% from the floor and improve to 2-3 overall, 2-0 in the MIAC.
Shannon Rene (So., Eau Claire, Wis. / Memorial) handed out a career-high eight assists.
Ahead 10-9 midway through the first half, Macalester staged a 14-2 run to go on top 24-11 at the 6:02 mark of the period. Hamline cut the lead in the second half and made a close contest of it, getting to within three points at 51-48 with 7:08 remaining before the Scots went on a key 9-0 run to go on top 60-48 with 4:33 to play. The Pipers never got closer than seven after that.
Baltzer was joined by three teammates in double digits in scoring.
Majra Mucic (Jr., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park – Minn.) scored 11 on a 5-for-7 shooting effort.
Eartha Bell (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Breck School) netted 10 points to go along with three steals, and Rene also scored 10 in addition to her eight assists.
Jessica Rene (So., Eau Claire, Wis. / Memorial) added to the balanced attack with nine points.
Trina PaStarr (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) contributed eight points, 11 rebounds and four assists.
Hamline's balanced attack was led by Kristin Sczublewski's 11 points. The Pipers are now 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the MIAC.
The Scots go for their third win in a row when they play host to Bethel on Monday (Dec. 7) at 7:30 p.m.
