Cold shooting Scots fall to St. Mary’s

Macalester vs. St. Mary's statistics

St. Mary's began a 17-4 run midway through the first half to open up a 25-17 advantage, and never gave up its margin en route to a 59-50 victory over the Scots in Winona. The Cardinals held Macalester to a 30% shooting figure on the night and improve to 2-13 on the season, 2-10 in MIAC play. The Scots have dropped three in a row and are now 8-7 overall and 6-6 in the conference.

Macalester ripped down 17 offensive rebounds, compared to just three for the home team, and received five three-point baskets from Jessica Rene (Fy., Eau Claire, Wis. / Memorial).

Rene paced Mac with 15 points. Ann Baltzer (Jr., Bismarck, N.D.) had 11 points and eight rebounds, while Majra Mucic (So., Zenica, Bosnia / St. Louis Park, Minn.)) finished with nine points and a game-high 12 boards.

Cherie Kulig scored 17 points and handed out four assists to lead the Cardinals. Emily DeWitt had nine points and nine rebounds.

Macalester takes on a red-hot Hamline team, winners of six in a row, this Saturday (Jan. 24) at Hamline.
