Marshall's first Mac goal lifts Scots past Hamline

Box Score Macalester vs. Hamline statistics | Video clips from the match: Eric Tettegah's goal | Ryan Marshall's game-winning score | save by Mark Mullaney |

Less than two minutes after Hamline tied the score on a well-placed free kick from 35 yards out, Macalester captured a 2-1 MIAC victory when Ryan Marshall (Fy., Plymouth, Minn. / Robbinsdale Armstrong) netted his first collegiate goal from 25 yards away off a pass from Reid Usedom (Fy., Asheville, N.C. / A.C. Reynolds) in the 69th minute. The Scots bounce back from a one-goal defeat to St. Olaf last weekend and move to 5-3-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the MIAC. Hamline drops to 3-5-1 on the year, 1-2-1 in league play.

Macalester opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Eric Tettegah (So., Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Breck School) put in his first goal this fall on a Usedom assist.

The game's statistics were even, with the difference being four big saves by Mac goalkeeper Mark Mullaney (So., Plymouth, Minn. / Robbinsdale Armstrong), who finished with four saves on the night.

The Scots play a couple non-conference road matches before returning to MIAC competition. Macalester plays Sunday (Sept. 28) at Luther (Ia.) and next Wednesday (Oct. 1) at St. Scholastica.
