Macalester vs. Augsburg stats & play-by-play
Macalester rallied from a 13-point second half deficit, using a 25-4 run to take charge, and Trina PaStarr (So., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest) scored the game-winning basket inside the lane with 3.3 seconds remaining to give the Scots a 64-62 victory over Augsburg in Minneapolis.
The Scots move to within half-a-game of Hamline for sixth place in the conference standings, improving to 8-12 overall and 7-10 in the MIAC with their fourth straight win over the Auggies. Augsburg drops to 6-14 on the season, 4-13 in league play.
PaStarr scored 15 of her game-high 22 points in the second half, and went 8-for-11 from the floor on the night while grabbing 12 rebounds. She went 3-for-3 on three-pointers and her game-winning shot came after the Auggies nailed a couple three-pointers in the final minute to tie things up after being down by six.
Danielle Johnson (So., DeForest, Wis. / Madison Edgewood) and Ann Baltzer (So., Bismarck, N.D.) joined PaStarr in double figures with 12 points each. Johnson also had three assists.
Alyssa Lunde (So., Rochester, Minn. / Mayo) had another solid all-around game, giving the team seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. MIAC steal leader Eartha Bell (So., Minneapolis, Minn. / Breck) contributed seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Macalester shot 55% in the second half and on the game out-scored the hosts 21-11 on points off turnovers.
Three players scored 12 points to lead a balanced Augsburg attack - Shannon Renne, Katie LaGrave and Michelle Richter. Kristina Lurken finished with 11 points and eight assists.
The Scots will try to make it two in a row when they host St. Olaf Saturday (Feb. 9).
