Macalester vs. Carleton statistics & play-by-play
Macalester was within three points with just over a minute to play, but Carleton held on for a 60-52 win over the Scots in Northfield. The Knights scored the game's first six points and never trailed, but Mac held tough the entire way before coming up short.
With their sixth straight win, the Knights go to 15-8 on the winter, 14-7 in the MIAC, and keep their hopes going for a top-four seed and first-round playoff home game. Macalester falls to 8-15 overall and 7-13 in the MIAC.
Carleton led 34-25 at halftime, in part due to an 11-for-12 free throw shooting effort, but Mac played well at the start of the second period, out-scoring the hosts 21-14 to crawl to within just two points at 48-46 at the midway point of the half. The Knights, however, never gave up the lead and made two key baskets and two free throws in the final minute to ice things.
