Chicago’s defense give Maroons 24-6 win over Macalester

The University of Chicago held Macalester to 186 yards and nine first downs as the Maroons beat the Scots 24-6 in Chicago. The Maroons improve to 2-3 on the year, Macalester drops below .500 at 3-4.

Macalester took a 6-3 lead with 2:59 left in the first half as quarterback Trevor Miehe (So., Holmen, Wis.) scored on a 26-yard touchdown run, but trailed at the halftime break as Chicago came back quickly to move 69 yards and scoring on a three-yard run with :39 before the end of the half to go up 10-6. The Maroons crossed the goal line midway through the third quarter and early in the fourth to put things away.

T. Joe Loiselle (Fy., Chippewa Falls, Wis.) carried the ball on nearly half of his team's plays from scrimmage and finished with 24 carries for 93 yards to lead the Macalester offense. Loiselle now has 726 yards rushing on the campaign.

Linebacker Brian Foster (So., Shannon, Miss.) was in on 11 stops, including eight solo tackles, to lead the Mac defensive unit. Ed Fitzpatrick (Sr., Honolulu, Hi. / Iolani) and Martin de la Presa-Pothier (Sr., Twin Falls, Id.) were in on eight tackles each.

Chicago's Francis Adarkwa rushed for 135 yards and three touchdowns, while John Kierman passed for 158 yards.

The Scots will try to get their record back to even next Saturday (Oct. 25) when they travel to New Ulm to play Martin Luther College.
