Macalester improved to a perfect 4-0 in the MIAC and won its seventh game in a row, beating Bethel 2-0 in St. Paul . The Scots are 7-1 on the season and are currently tied with St. Benedict for the top spot in the league standings. Bethel is now 4-5-1 overall, 1-3-1 in the MIAC.
Now 14-0-1 all-time against Bethel , the Scots received an early goal at the 12:14 mark from Maddy Cochrane (So., Grand Marais, Minn. / Cook County) and then doubled the lead when Emily Hall (Fy., Seattle, Wash. / Roosevelt) scored from close range at 68:46. For Cochrane and Hall, it was their second goals of the season.
Grace King (Jr., Northampton, Mass.) set up Cochrane's goal with an assist, while Grace Geiger (So., Seattle, Wash. / Bishop Blanchet) assisted on Hall's tally.
Jenny Lee (Jr., Circle Pines, Minn. / Centennial) was called on to make four saves to post the team's fourth shutout of the season and lower her goals against average to 0.66.
The Scots host Wartburg (Ia.) in a non-conference affair Sunday (Sept. 30) at 3 p.m. Then they play the first of three straight challenging MIAC road matches next Wednesday (Oct. 3) at Augsburg at 7:30 p.m.
