Rose Betzler (So., Northfield, Minn.) scored her fourth and fifth goals of the season, while teammates
Emily Hall (Fy., Seattle, Wash. / Rosevelt),
Martha Coe (Fy., Grand Haven, Mich.) and
Katie Dittman (So., Spokane, Wash. / Lewis & Clarke) netted their first career scores as Macalester defeated Luther (Ia.) 5-2 in St. Paul.
The Scots have now won six straight since a season-opening setback to No. 6-ranked Wisconsin-Eau Claire and improve to 6-1 on the season. The Norse drop to 2-6.
Macalester out-shot the Norse 16-7 and earned a 7-1 corner kick advantage.
The Scots received assists from Maddie Mette (So., Burnsville, Minn.), Grace King (Jr., Northampton, Mass.), Maggie Yates (So., Spokane, Wash. / Lewis & Clark) and Jordan Eckstein (Fy., Northampton, Mass.). Although she didn't score a goal in a game for the first time all season after scoring in six in a row, King finished with two assists. She now has nine goals and five assists on the year.
The Scots return to MIAC play Wednesday (Sept. 26) at home against Hamline at 7:40 p.m. Mac is currently tied for first with St. Benedict in the league at 3-0.
