Colorado College jumped to a 27-0 halftime lead and went on to gain a 44-14 win over the host Scots on a hot a humid Saturday afternoon at Macalester Stadium. The Tigers move over the .500 mark at 3-2. Macalester drops to 2-4 heading into an off week.
Colorado College quarterback Jon McDonald tossed four touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead the way. He went 19-for-30 for 255 yards. Ross Alisiani caught nine passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns.
Jakub Koziol (Sr., Chicago, Ill. / St. Patrick) and Jeff Wankel (Sr., Bloomer, Wis.) provided Macalester with a solid one-two running punch. Koziol rushed 20 times for a career-high 114 yards, while Wankel added 86 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. Quarterback Trevor Miehe (Fr., Chippewa Falls, Wis.) went 15-for-34 for 177 yards.
Macalester's first touchdown came late in the third quarter when Miehe tossed a 32-yard touchdown pass to Nash Traylor (So., Sonora, Tex.). The team's second score came on an eight-year Wankel run to cap off a seven-play, 74-yard drive.
Brian Foster (Fr., Shannon, Miss.) collected 12 tackles to lead the Macalester defense. Jeremy Velasquez (Sr., Fort Stockton, Tex.) and Nick Honan (Sr., Apple Valley, Minn.) each had interceptions.
The Scots are off for a couple weeks, returning to action Oct. 20 at Gustavus.
