Macalester played a strong match in games two, three and four, but came up short in a 3-1 loss at Hamline in the 2007 season-finale. Game scores were 30-18, 32-30, 29-31 and 30-27. The Scots wind up at 3-21 overall and 0-11 in the MIAC. Hamline clinches the sixth and final spot in next week's conference playoffs, finishing the regular season at 17-10 overall and 6-5 in the MIAC.
The Scots had 12 blocks and hit at a .163 percentage as four players reached double figures in kills, led by Erin Cusac (So., Pine River, Minn. / Pine River-Backus) with 14. Also joining the balanced attach were Kate Fahje (Sr., Waukesha, Wis. / South) and Diana Petty (Jr., Chapel Hill, N.C.) with 11 apiece and Suzy Szumowski (Jr., Northbrook, Ill. / Glenbrook North) with 10.
Kiera Coulter (Fy., Davis, Calif.) led the back row with 23 kills, and Kari Tanaka (Sr., Bloomington, Minn.) had 40 assists. Fahje had seven blocks, while Szumowski and Majra Mucic (Fy., St. Louis Park, Minn.) each had six.
Macalester served 10 aces, getting three each from Coulter, Mucic and Marie Godwin (So., Chaska, Minn.).
Hamline was led by Tasha Simmons with 17 kills and Shelby Hyllengren with 16.
