Gustavus Adolphus defeated Macalester 3-1 in St. Peter Wednesday night in Mac's next-to-last match of the season. Gustavus keeps its MIAC post-season hopes alive, moving to 5-5 in the league and 17-8 overall. The Scots are now 0-10 in the MIAC and 3-20 overall.
Game scores were 30-22, 23-30, 30-26 and 31-29.
The Scots performed, nearly forcing a fifth game by playing to a 29-29 tie before the Gusties rallied with the final two points to put the match away. Macalester hit .178 on the evening and .255 in its seven-point win in game two.
Setter (So., Pine River, Minn. / Pine River-Backus) with 13 and Majra Mucic (Fy., St. Louis Park, Minn.) with 10.
Cusac and Kiera Coulter (Fy., Davis, Calif.) each served three aces, while Coulter led the team with 25 digs. Suzy Szumowski (Jr., Northbrook, Ill. / Glenbrook North) led Mac with seven blocks. Szumowski is now ranked third in the conference in blocks per game (1.28)
Gustavus was led by Andrea Korn and Meghan Gehring with 15 kills apiece, while Bridget Burtzer with 46 assists.
The Scots will celebrate Senior Night at Friday's season-ending match at Hamline.
