James Murrey (Jr., Western Springs, Ill. / Lyons Township) tossed a two-hit shutout Saturday (May 2) over Bethel in the first game of a Macalester doubleheader sweep as the Scots took the opener 3-0. Murrey struck out 10 and walked just two, reaching double-digits in strikeouts for the third time in five conference starts. In five MIAC starts, the Macalester ace went 3-2 with a 0.81 ERA, striking out 42 and walking only four in 33 1/3 innings. MIAC opponents hit just .172 off him. On the season, Murrey went 6-3 with a 1.95 ERA and 76 strikeouts.
