Macalester’s women’s soccer team got the season off to a 2-0 start and forward Izzi Speer (So., Madison, Wis. / West) played a big role. Speer’s corner kick in overtime found teammate Kat Lenhart, who headed in the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win Thursday (Sept. 1) over St. Scholastica. On Sunday (Sept. 4), Speer stole the ball from a Luther defender in the opening minute of play and rifled a shot into the upper-right corner from 15 yards out as the Scots toppled the Norse 1-0.
